“These Words Aren’t Meant For Me”
Album Review
By Adriana Rubio
FIN is a talented solo Singer, Guitarist and Songwriter from London, UK. After years of working for the music and film industries, FIN decided it was time to really focus on his own songwriting. As a solo performer he formed a band to produce and record his debut album “These Words Aren’t Meant For Me” which he released through his label “Written Records” in 2011.
“These Words Aren’t Meant For Me” is a ten tracks album filled with music-tunes mixing together the foundations of Folk, Rock, Acoustic and a bit of Jazz. The album’s first track is a kick ass song titled “Stone Dead and Rising”, an amazing tune which brings, if you dig in the studio band version, a soft reminiscence of The Cult’s song “IF” from the album “Ceremony”.
“These Words Aren’t Meant For Me” certainly offers the listener the opportunity to enjoy a fine fusion of musical styles coming from a talented and respected English songwriter highly influenced by Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Rush and Leonard Cohen among a few others.
FIN knows very well how to handle climax when creating singing melodies to harmonize musically with the instruments and song structures. Songs like “Sister to a Brother”, “Collections”, “Your Last line” and the album’s title song “These Words Aren’t Meant For Me” prove FIN knows what he is doing. FIN’s compositions have been originally created and brilliantly performed, there’s no room for doubt that his musical influences have touched him deeply to become a passionate songwriter.
